Balloon Sinuplasty

Balloon Sinuplasty is an endoscopic sinus surgery procedure. Patients with chronic sinusitis who do not respond well to medication may be candidates for this non-invasive, outpatient procedure. Patients who need a biopsy or culture may not be candidates for balloon sinuplasty.

Surgeons will insert a small guide catheter into the nostril and through the sinus passage. A balloon catheter is inserted to guide balloon inflation. The balloon is inflated to open, unblock and reshape the narrow or blocked sinus passage. Then the balloon is deflated and removed to restore proper sinus function.

Patients can return to normal activity within 24 hours of surgery.
